(I copy-pasted this from my blockmate Tricia Aguila’s blog—thanks!)
What does law regulate? What does it seek to do?
It regulates behavior; it compels you; it instructs you; it defines you.
Why must we regulate human behavior?
Man has a sensational(?) thirst for predictability.
Law provides you with a vision to the future. It provides order. It tells you how you should be. Law sees to it that it happens that way.
On human free will:
Law restricts it but gives life to it as well.
There’s one absolute freedom to which law concedes. It’s the freedom to believe.
The Supreme Court is the bastion of tyranny.
Never confuse morality or religion with law!
On the Ateneo Law School:
We study law by bringing the pace to an unbearable rate. We have an obligation to you to tell you at the earliest time if this is not for you.
On Atenean lawyers:
We prepare our clients today so we can create what will happen tomorrow. We can define time. We can create the future.
